Ovington Inland Championships - Grafham Water SC - 18/19 March
With snow on many of our boat covers this week, it may not feel quite like the sailing season has arrived… but for many keen Musto Skiff sailors, this weekend brings the opening event of the GBR circuit with the Ovington Inland Championships. Thankfully, the forecast looks excellent – windy, mild, and arguably perfect skiff sailing weather. With 7 races scheduled and last year’s champion unable to attend, the title is well up for grabs. Let’s have a look at some of the hot favourites leading into the event:
Dan Vincent: Musto Skiff class veteran, current GBR National Circuit Champion and on the podium at this very event last year. Surely the man from stokes bay heads into the weekend as No.1 favourite.
Sam Barker: 5th at the 2022 Musto Skiff National Championships and a rocket ship downwind, certainly one to watch.
Danny Boatman: 9th at last year’s Nationals, our new International Class Chairman is a lover of the big breeze. He will be looking at the forecast and licking his lips!
Rob Richardson (RoRi): 4th at the 2022 World Championships, 7th at the Nationals and Top Youth, Rob will be wanting to take the top spot.
Rob Higgins: Newcomer to the Musto Skiff fleet joins us from the RS700 as their current Inland champion and has sat on multiple Nationals podiums in his previous class. The unknown entity at his first Musto event, could he be here to take the spoils?
Whatever the result, the prospect of some fiercely close racing throughout the fleet at Grafham Water SC has got everyone excited to get this season started!

Bookings opened on 18th February 2023. Entry online is available until midnight on 15th March 2023. Late entries will be accepted only at the absolute discretion of the Club. If permitted late entries will be subject to a £10 late entry fee. See the NOR for full details.
