Musto Skiff Class to Explore ‘New Mainsail Design Project’

The Musto Skiff class 2020 Annual Survey report is now available to view and download. This latest survey provided an opportunity to comment on new boat development projects. This included the idea for an additional smaller rig, and a vote from class members on whether they wanted to explore options for a new mainsail design or defer this project for another two years.
Noble Marine Insurance has confirmed that they will continue their longstanding sponsorship of the GBR Musto Skiff class for 2021. Funds from Noble Marine Insurance will go towards a dedicated UK-based training program for class members. Noble Marine has also been confirmed as the Title Sponsor for this year’s UK Nationals event.
The dates for the ACO 11th Musto Skiff World Championships 2021, to be hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva at Lake Garda, Italy, have now been confirmed as 25th September to 2nd October 2021.

A couple of years ago, the class voted to explore a new mainsail design. A test sail was made and trialed. This sail was not considered to be a sufficient advance to warrant further consideration. The class voted to ‘pause’ the project and it was put on hold. The project will reopen in February 2021.
We hope this Australian update finds all fellow MUSTO sailors around the world safe and well. Since the last update in June, the COVID-19 outlook has been more optimistic for much of Australia, except for those in the state of Victoria, where unfortunately high-level restrictions are still in place.
The rescheduled Kiel Week (Kieler Woche) 2020 regatta will take place in Kiel, Germany, from 5 – 13 September. The MUSTO Skiff’s are scheduled to race over 5 – 8 September. Here's the latest update.
