After a training week on lake Walensee during Spring, and another training weekend over Pentecost, we met for the first official regatta in a whole year!
Twelve Musto Skiffs met to race on the lake of Thun, together with the 29-er class. The sea breeze was punctual and bang on 2pm, which allowed us to sail three races. A good portion of luck was needed, because of gusts. For Schenk Sedric, these conditions were perfect. On Saturday evening, he was sitting in first place.
After the last race of the day, more wind came up, and so we enjoyed the good wind conditions and sailed together for fun. In the evening, we enjoyed pizza and some beers together.
On Sunday, we had a nice wind with 3-4 bf. It was Pierre-Yves Pfirter who now showed consistently good results. Gilbert Bezikze from Germany also showed much improvement.
Here some more highlights from the regatta:
- Alexander Greil, who thought that only Australia had good wind, nearly froze to death in his swimming trunks.
- Hene Keller was unbeatable in light wind conditions.
- Urs Rothacher was sailing for the first time in a Musto Skiff regatta since the very first Musto WM in Malcesine.
- Risto Wieland has sailed a Musto Skiff for ten years. This was his very first regatta!
- Stephan Zuellig had not trained all this season but sailed well.
- Dieter Brunner sometimes had a bit of bad luck and trouble.
- Duersen Thomas made good progresses in Musto sailing.
- Oliver Jeker is now able to hold on with the fleet!
This was a very nice regatta, and we had a lot of fun!
For the Musto Skiff class, podium places went to Pierre-Yves Pfirter (SUI 353) for 1st place, Alexander Greil (SUI 306) for 2nd place, and Dominique Wälchli (SUI 132) for 3rd place.
