Results: Musto Skiffs at the 64th Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy – 4/5 July

This year, six Musto Skiff sailors represented the class at the legendary Lord Birkett Memorial Trophy at Ullwater Yacht Club, which was hosted over 4th and 5th July 2026.

The event attracted 213 mixed class boats – all starting on a single start line, which is an impressive sight to see from the shore and even more impressive to be involved in as a participating helm and crew!

For 2026, the overall event was won by Matty Lyons and James Lyons in a 49er.

The first sailor to lead the Musto Skiffs over the line was former Lord Birkett winner, Dylan Noble, who placed just inside the top 20 with a 19th place overall.  Next up in the Musto Skiffs was Josh Moran (60th overall), showing that local knowledge is a must for this fun but challenging endurance sailing event!

Next up for the Musto Skiffs were James Penty (63rd overall), Sam Barker (111th overall), Ben Schooling (114th overall), and James Watts (159th overall).

A special mention to James Watts, who was competing in his first ever Lord Birkett event in a Musto Skiff. It’s not the easiest of events, but he embraced the full experience of sailing his Musto and got involved, showing that a positive mindset and bucket loads of enthusiasm for sailing is all you need to have fun and enjoy any day out on the water!
