Report: France Open Skiff 2024 – 30 Mar to 1 Apr

Event: France Open Skiff 2024, Lac du Der, 30 March – 1 April 2024
Report by Alexandre Emanuel

During the Easter weekend, 27 multi-series skiffs joined the infamous France Open Skiff at Lac du Der. The annual regatta is always very popular and included four days of racing with 9 courses overall and changing weather conditions.

Two Musto Skiffs represented the class at the event, including French sailor, Alexandre Emanuel in Musto Skiff FRA 604, and Swiss sailor, Stephane Valdemarin in SUI 454.

B14’s sailors, Cadre Alain and Cadre Francois were the overall winners, with the Cadre brother’s taking the lead on the best NED RS 500 on the last day. Alexandre was the top placed Musto Skiff, finishing in 18th place overall.

Congratulations to the club host, who always provide nice catering and accommodation within the event fees to make it easy for all entrants to participate and enjoy the full regatta.

The France Open Skiff regatta is ready to welcome even more European participants, and prior to the pandemic, it was always well attended by Musto Skiff sailors, as well as many great skiff sailors across the different classes. It is good to see many sailors participating in this great event again, and it would be fantastic to see more Musto Skiff sailors coming along for next year.
