Event: 2022 Trophée BreizhSkiff, Carnac YC, France, 3 – 4 September.
Report by Alexandre Emanuel (Musto Skiff 293)
The 2022 Trophée BreizhSkiff (Breizhskiff Trophy) regatta was hosted at Carnac YC in France over 3 – 4 September. The regatta aims to promote new dinghies in France and this year was the 18th edition of this sporting event.
Two Musto Skiffs joined this very nice skiff multi-series event with 27 entries on an Upwind / Downwind course. The Musto Skiffs joined the Fireball and double hander skiffs, who had a real advantage with the conditions. With the sun out, but mid-range wind conditions and tide reverse with waves, it was difficult to reach much speed in a Musto Skiff! However, it was great fun to take part, and Carnac is definitely a very good place to sail; bringing back good memories of an excellent event there in 2018 for the ACO 7th Musto Skiff Worlds.
With two Musto Skiffs, three RS700’s and a Contender making up the single-hander boats, a special single-hander Skiff ranking was offered by the club with a special ‘Single-hand Skiff’ prize giving planned at the close of the event. We were very happy to see Yoann Justeau (Musto Skiff 388) winning the top prize! FRA sailor, Alexandre Emanuel (Musto Skiff 293) was also awarded a prize for finishing in 2nd place. Joining them on the podium for the 3rd place prize was RS700 sailor, JF. Douard.
We look forward to the next Trophée BreizhSkiff regatta, and thanks to Carnac YC and the event organisers for a great weekend!
