MSCA OBJECTIVES & ACTIVITES

MUSTO SKIFF CLASS ASSOCIATION (MSCA)

The Musto Skiff Class Association (MSCA) objectives and activities:

  1. To promote the participation in MUSTO Skiff events world wide
  2. To preserve, enforce and develop the class rules
  3. To create a community of owners who are all part of a world-wide club
  4. To plan and schedule a series of World Championships regattas that moves around the world
  5. To plan and schedule a EuroCup Series in Europe
  6. To support national associations to create a series of national events
  7. To meet the obligations of World Sailing
  8. To maintain an international class website
  9. To distribute an international class eNewsletter
  10. To foster communication between members on Social Media and Class forum
  11. To host an on-line class survey each year in preference to an AGM at the Worlds
  12. To support and work with class builder(s) to ensure continued supply of quality equipment
  13. To seek and support a range of sponsorship agreements to benefit the class and its members
  14. To support the scheduling of training programmes world wide
  15. To support the display of the class at various exhibitions
  16. To maintain a market in used boats world wide
  17. To collect class fees and keep accurate financial records
  18. To create social programmes that fit alongside major regattas

MUSTO SKIFF CLASS ASSOCIATION (MSCA)

MSCA INTERNATIONAL COMMITTEE

International Committee role (class constitution objectives):

The objectives of the Class Association is to promote and further the interests of the MUSTO Skiff Class throughout the world. This will be achieved by the MSCA International Committee as follows:

  • Improving the skills of MUSTO Skiff sailors through effective training and other complimentary development programmes.
  • Organising a competition programme (Google calendar) from National Association input for World, National and Regional levels and promoting competition at International level.
  • Promoting the benefits of membership of the Class Association to new owners.
  • Informing members of Class Association activities and technical developments relating to the MUSTO Skiff.
  • Working with the class builder to maintain standards and developments
  • Liaising with the National Class Associations and assisting the National Class Associations with the organisation and management of major championships
  • Working with World Sailing to ensure the class maintains its international status, including the completion of annually required documentation
  • Creating and maintaining the class rules
  • Creating and maintaining the class constitution 
  • Managing and promoting a range of social media channels for the class
  • Managing the class advertising
  • Managing the international class website
  • Managing the class monthly eNewsletter (MSCA eNews)
  • Managing a range of class wide social media channels
  • Maintaining the used boat and equipment page on the website
  • Producing an annual class survey that is available for all members and non-members to complete online. To act on the majority decisions where required.
  • Encouraging and controlling development (Cunningham, outhauls etc.)

MSCA NATIONAL COMMITTEES

National Committee role:

In support of Class Association objectives, the role of each National Committee is to promote and further the interests of the MUSTO Skiff Class at a regional and local level. This will be achieved by:

  • Ensuring all sailors competing in the class are fully paid up members of their National Class Association and thereby the World Association
  • Maintaining a record of the class members and forwarding this to the international secretary to maintain a complete list and to issue membership packs annually
  • Liaising with their national federations on national matters
  • Organising national championships and regional open meetings
  • Encouraging and controlling development and forwarding any recommendations to the international secretary to add to the annual survey
  • Organising national training weekends
  • Supporting the training of sailors and coaches
  • Supporting national class promotion
  • Promptly supplying event reports and images to the international marketing and communications officer for publishing on the website and for the monthly eNewsletter (MSCA eNews)
