Event Date: 7/8 August 2021 | Report by Alexander Greil
On the weekend of 7/8 August, 30 Finn and 6 Musto’s travelled to Flüelen for the Finn PM & Musto Skiff event. It was very nice scenery. Heavy clouds between the big mountains, sometimes a little sun, and 4-5 bf wind.
Not everyone was used to these conditions, but all the sailors fought hard and gave it their best. After the first race, more wind suddenly came in as part of a bad weather front. Unfortunately, the organisers were forced to stop the regatta.
On the way back to the very tiny harbour, which needed to be passed on a downwind course, lots of the sailors struggled… some drifted away or capsized. Luckily, the regatta committee was able to support them all. What an adventure!
The next day, the bad weather had passed, and we were able to sail three more races in the best conditions with 3-4 bf. After the day before, all the sailors had made lots of progress, so there were some interesting battles within the fleet.
For the Musto Skiff class, podium places went to Alexander Greil (SUI 486), who finished in first place overall, followed closely by Roger Oswald (SUI 436) in second place, and Gilbert Brietzke (GER 427) in third place. The final three Musto Skiff places went to Marc Faas (SUI 192) in fourth, Thomas Dührsen (SUI 517) in fifth, and Pierre-Yves Pfirter (SUI 353) in sixth.
It was a very nice event, and we had a good time together. We thank the regatta committee very much for the good organisation.
