As we close the year, there’s already a lot to look forward to in 2020 with a new sailing season about to start in the Northern Hemisphere and, in the Southern Hemisphere, Australia will be crowning its new National Champion. The Class also has the event of the year to look forward to with the ACO 11th Musto Skiff World Championship confirmed to be hosted in Eckernförde, Germany in August.
To give you something to focus on, why not check out the Musto Skiff Hall of Fame, where a goldmine of information and top tips from former National and World Champions (dating back as far as 2001!) awaits you. This includes the rig settings and training routines that helped GBR’s Bruce Keen and Australia’s Jon Newman win multiple National and World titles between them.
A new addition to the Hall of Fame is GBR sailor, Jamie Hilton, who recently won the 2019 UK National Championships title at Largs Sailing Club.
In this latest sailor profile, Jamie shares his journey from International 14s to sailing the Musto Skiff, in which he has now spent 11 seasons. Jamie now has his sights set on what he can do to retain the Nationals title later this year at Brixham Yacht Club from 3rd to 6th September.
Look out for a new sailor profile following the conclusion of the Australian National Championships at Blairgowrie Yacht Squadron this January…. or will it be one of the favourites taking the title again?
In the meantime, cheers to a great sailing season ahead, and make sure you check out the Class events calendar here (or your local event calendars) to plan your own campaign for 2020.
