After three races on the spectacular opening day of the ACO 10th MUSTO Skiff World Championship 2019, British sailor Bruce Keen has taken the lead. The world champion of 2012 and 2015 has a lead of four points over his compatriot Dan Vincent, who stands on equal points with the Dutchman Paul Dijkstra. Thanks to winning the second race of the day, Vincent is in second place. The challenging conditions on the IJsselmeer off the coast of Medemblik put the 92 participants to the test. After a couple of years of absence at the Kieler Woche the MUSTO Skiffs were back again in 2019 with 22 sailors representing 5 nations to fight for the title of Kieler Woche, German Open and EuroCup. Most sailors were conveniently combining it with the worlds logistically or at least using it as a warm up regatta.
With the 10th ACO MUSTO Skiff worlds approaching a new format of a combined racing and training format on the 15/16 of June. The Saturday involved a practice start between each race which was recorded and debriefed at the end of the day by Dan Henderson.

A suitably dreich west coast morning welcomed twelve MUSTO Skiffs to Largs Sailing Club for the third round of the Northern and Scottish Skiff Series sponsored by Harken. Read the full report.
A 22 boat fleet were warmly welcomed by the team at Wilsonian Sailing Club for the third Harken GBR Circuit Event of the season; breeze was forecast and the sun was shining for this two day special over the bank holiday weekend.
The second Northern and Scottish Skiff event was hosted by Ullswater Yacht Club over the Easter weekend. 6 races were held in sunshine and a shifty 6-12k took place. A healthy fleet of 12 boats raced on a shared course with the VXOne’s, Moths, Waszps and a mixed asymmetric fleet all with different starts.
On Saturday 13th July, 35 excited MUSTO Skiff sailors converged at Stokes Bay Sailing Club for what promised to be a glorious regatta. Unusually, the forecast looked perfect; a sunny 15 knots and everyone was keen to get out and compete in some waves! Even more unusually the forecast was almost spot on and we enjoyed 5 fast, close and exciting races.
Well here it was, the first circuit event of the season! The event was held at Rutland Water and sponsored by Harken. Didn’t it ever come around quick? The forecast for the weekends’ event was not great and, really, no-one was expecting anything special, but dam was we wrong. If there was ever a time where the saying ‘a bad forecast always ruined a good days sailing’ was appropriate it was this weekend! As always some very keen sailors turned up Friday to get a sneaky sail in, some might say this was cheating....
