Well here it was, the first circuit event of the season! The event was held at Rutland Water and sponsored by Harken. Didn’t it ever come around quick? The forecast for the weekends’ event was not great and, really, no-one was expecting anything special, but dam was we wrong. If there was ever a time where the saying ‘a bad forecast always ruined a good days sailing’ was appropriate it was this weekend! As always some very keen sailors turned up Friday to get a sneaky sail in, some might say this was cheating....
As a follow-up to the update given in November, we would like to clarify the position on the potential equipment developments.
It is with great sadness that the MUSTO Skiff family has lost one of its own in January 2019. Martin finally lost his courageous battle with cancer aged 35 on Sunday after a two and a half year fight. In that time he managed to cram in a lot of sailing, getting a spin on BAR’s (As they were) foiling AC 45 and even winning a race at the SB20 Europeans as recently as August last year, testament to his fighting spirit until the end, always with a smile and a wise crack.
With a prediction of sunny 20 knot sea breezes, the fleet set off in anxious haste having been sternly informed by our PRO that no late starters would be tolerated. We were greeted by a 10-12 knot north easterly sea breeze predicted to increase.

In December I let everyone know that Paul and Rick are stepping down from their roles. We therefore need to find willing and enthusiastic people with knowledge of the Class to take over their great work. This is your opportunity to help drive the Class forward to an even greater future; developing on the considerable base that Rick & Paul established.
Paul and Rick have put a combined 35 years into the development of the class and have been a key part of what has made our class a huge success. They have confirmed that they wish to step down from their roles within the class association.
