Report: Musto Skiffs at L’A Berre Y Skiff 2025 – 18/19 Oct

Event: L’A Berre Y Skiff, hosted at Club Nautique Berrois, 18 & 19 October 2025.

Class Report by Alexandre Emanuel

A fantastic regatta was held last weekend at CNBerrois, with an incredible welcome and a wonderful, friendly atmosphere both on shore and on the water!

Adult participation was excellent, with 21 skiffs present, representing a wide variety of boats and many new faces, along with 14 individual sports dinghies. For this year, 35 boats registered, and 70 meals were served on Saturday evening, featuring local and, above all, homemade cuisine.

Representing the Musto Skiffs at the regatta were Swiss class sailor Louis Valdemarin and French class sailor Guillaume Planquette.

5 races were held, with 6 skiff starts in very light winds, almost non-existent on Saturday (SW), and light-to-medium winds of 8-12 knots (NE) on Sunday (flat sea). The conditions still allowed for fair races with a captivating interplay of pressures and oscillations!

We would have hoped for more wind, but everyone was able to enjoy sailing in these conditions, where navigation and manoeuvres could be automated, allowing you to better focus on the boat and interact more with your surroundings.

A fantastic regatta, and congratulations to all the participants, because regattas are about you, about us, about the Club, and all the social aspects that come with it. It’s a shame, however, given the absence of the young Skiff crews from the Pôles Espoirs and Performance Clubs, who were present and well-represented this time last year.

A huge thank you to the large team of volunteers at CNBerrois and to Michel Robert of the Race Committee, who demonstrated true efficiency in all situations.
Thanks, also, to Akhilleus, who made their superb cruising catamaran, fresh from the shipyard, available for the regatta.

Club report by Club Nautique Berrois:

35 crews were on the starting line for this fifth edition of our A Berre y Skiff regatta, part of the Breizhskiff Trophy, a circuit of skiff regattas (rating <1000) with corrected time open to all. As with every year, classic dinghies (rating >1000 and <=1180) also participated in a separate group.

A major new feature this year was that the committee boat was provided by Akhilleus, a luxurious Excess 11 catamaran skippered by Emmanuel Degoin, a member of the CNB and founder of Akhilleus Challenge, specialising in creating immersive nautical experiences that strengthen team cohesion and develop leadership.

On Saturday, the Étang de Berre had a Côte d’Azur feel: bright sunshine and light winds. On Sunday, a Breton atmosphere took over with a stronger, shifty wind, a few showers, and some beautiful sunny spells.

At the end of the five races, brothers Alain and François Cadre (CN Castelnaudary) won in B14 in the Skiffs category, while Maria Picard (CN Cholonge) won the Classic Dinghy category with her Aero.

On the CNB side, the tandem Max Miossec/Maude Traversaz (4th skiffs) and Bob Gunion (3rd dinghies) recorded the best performances for the club.

Well done to everyone for this wonderful edition!
