Musto Skiffs get packed up for Sydney!

Article by the International Musto Skiff Class Association

This month, the Musto Skiff fleets from across Europe started their journey to Sydney for the 2025 Worlds—well, their boats at least!! A team of sailors got up early on Monday 23rd September to get their clean and shiny boats packed up and loaded onto a 20ft and 40ft shipping container, before the boats were picked up alongside the B14’s container of boats to start the long journey across the globe from England to Sydney!

International Class Membership Secretary, David Annan, shares the great bonding experience of packing up boats together as a team and getting ready to compete in the up-coming ACO 14th Musto Skiff World Championships in Sydney, Australia in January.

“A major milestone has been reached in the build up to the ACO Musto Skiff 2025 Worlds, which will be hosted by Woollahra Sailing Club on the iconic waters of Sydney Harbour in January. On Monday, twenty European-based Musto Skiffs were loaded into containers to begin their journey around the world for the upcoming championship. With a great show of camaraderie and accompanying banter, the sailors worked together to secure the boats and all the equipment into the containers. Great evidence that despite the fiercely competitive racing in the fleet, we are all mates who help each other and have a good time.

A big thanks goes to Lee and Sue from boat transport specialist Peters & May, who organised the shipping schedule and guided the class on completing the paperwork. They also allowed us to take over their warehouse for the day so we could escape the torrential rain while we loaded the containers. A team effort all round! We can’t wait to see you all in Sydney!”
