Noble Marine Weymouth Musto Skiff Training – May 2024

Training: Noble Marine Musto Skiff Training Day, Friday 10th May 2024, WPNSA, Weymouth & Portland. Training organised by Sam Pascoe and Rob Richardson.

Summary Report by Sam Pascoe

12 Musto Skiffs turned up on the Friday before the Skiff Open weekend in Weymouth. The weather was perfect. It was a bit hotter than people expected by the red-hot faces in the fleet. The wind built from 6 knots to 12 by the end of the day.

The fleet wanted to work on a mix of starting and up wind setting. So, Robbie Richardson, our expert coach, set us two practice starts and then a 10-minute windward-leeward course. After three hours of doing this—we think we had done 18 starts in total—we headed in to look at the video.

Full points to Jamie Hilton, who took my threat that anyone caught over the line more than once must do 10 press-ups very seriously and did his on the water. The rest of us did them later with a pint or two inside us. Robbie did a brilliant job of getting video footage of everyone and passing on a tip or two to each sailor.

Thanks to Nobel Marine for their continued support of the class and to Martin Pascoe for running the starts and constantly moving the start line.
