This year’s Skiff Training Camp at Dongo, Lake Como, was held over 26 April to 3rd May 2025 and included 9 days of sunshine and more than 12 kts wind. The popular training week is organised by Swiss Musto Skiff sailor Alex Greil and has become a much-anticipated training week in the annual skiff calendar.
Thanks to Alex for organising and hosting another great training week and for providing the training report. We are sure to see even more of our class coming along to this training next year.
Trainingslager Dongo Comersee 26.4-3.5.25 (‘Training Camp Dongo Lake Como 26.04 – 3.05.25’)

This year’s training week was a complete success! Participants from Germany, France and Switzerland came together to improve their skiff skills on Lake Como in perfect weather and wind conditions.
The Musto Skiff sailors were able to increase their numbers once again, with 23 Musto skiffs taking part, plus Vivian and Sabrina, who brought their light skiffs. Once again, this year, we were joined by the cool young team from JSS Steckborn. The Steckborn team also brought three 49er FX. This meant that the space on the lake in front of the campsite was pretty tight.
The weather and wind were perfect for sailing this year, and we were able to hang low every day. The perfect conditions were used for short up and downwind courses, which were accompanied by Alex on the mobo as a coach.
Some also took the opportunity to sail to Dervio several times and then ‘heat’ downwind. The JSS girls had plenty of energy, so they had the opportunity to sail along as ‘fun pre-sailors’ on the 49ers.
The very good conditions were used to take lots of great photos and drone shots. We look forward to the photos and videos!
In the morning we started at ten o’clock with the daily briefing, where Alex explained manoeuvres and handling with the help of photo and video analysis. The time before and after sailing was used intensively for optimisation and repair. Alex’s tuning and repair service was used extensively; all Mustos are now travelling with intact mast rails again! Many thanks Alex!!!
In the evening, we usually went to the La Luna pizzeria to replenish our lost energy. There was a lot of chatting, laughing, exchanging ideas, and learning ‘High German’ and dialect along the way. Word of the week: ‘zwägpüschelen’
The joint spaghetti party on Friday evening was the fun culinary highlight of the week.
It was an all-round successful training week with a super-cool group! I’m looking forward to taking part again next year and seeing you all in Dongo in a year’s time at the latest!
