2022 UK Musto Skiff National Championships is Open for Entries

Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships 2022

The Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships 2022 is now open for entry. This year’s regatta will be hosted at Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club (ESSC) over 1st to 4th September.

The annual four-day regatta is a premier event in the GBR Musto Skiff class calendar, inviting sailors from all over the UK to come together and race for the UK National Champion title. The Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club is on the East Sussex coast and is well known in the dinghy sailing world for its friendliness, strong organisation, and great sailing conditions.

The member-run club has hosted the Musto Skiff class for previous events, and it is anticipated that places will book up fast. The GBR committee is also pleased to confirm that this year’s event will have no restrictions on numbers. Entries for the 2020 and 2021 UK National Championships had to be booked on a first come basis with limited places due to Covid-19 pandemic restrictions.

The Early Bird (standard) entry fee is £165 and includes off the water snacks after every race day, evening meals for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and on-site car parking. Late entry (from 1st August) is £195, so the class is being urged to get their entries in before this date. For those unable to make the full event, a Weekend Warrior option is available for £95.

Noble Marine Insurance will once again be supporting the regatta as the UK National Championships Title Sponsor. This is part of a wider sponsorship with Noble Marine, who extended their long-running sponsorship of the class earlier this year with investment towards training and coaching sessions for the UK fleet over 2022.

Long-term class sponsor, Musto, will also be providing several prizes from their extensive range of cutting-edge performance apparel and dinghy kit. Award categories for the regatta will be dependent on entries, but it is anticipated to include Overall Winners, Silver, Youth, Master, Grand Master, and Legend, providing plenty opportunities to win a prize.

The Title is currently held by Sam Pascoe following his well-deserved win at the last UK Nationals in August 2021 at Sunderland Yacht Club. Pascoe had to battle for the Title win on the final race day, with 5 boats still in contention for the overall 1st place on the podium. Andy Tarboton was a close contender for the Title, finishing on equal points with Pascoe at the close of the event, but it was Pascoe who finally scooped the win and UK National Champion Title on countback.

The Musto Skiff class will have to wait until September to find out if Sam Pascoe will defend and keep his Title (and the impressively large and shiny winner’s trophy!), or if a new winner will be crowned as the 2022 UK National Champion.

Entry is now open and the NoR is available to view and download on the Eastbourne Sovereign Sailing Club website: HERE >>
