Congratulations to RSA Musto Skiff sailor, Andy Tarboton, who finished at the top of the 2021 UK Hyde Sails Series, after the series concluded with the sixth and final event at Dalgety Bay SC.
The Musto Skiff class has a long history with the global sailmaker, Hyde Sails. They are the official sails partner for the Ovington built Musto Skiff, and they have supported the international class since it was first established some 20 years ago. This year, the UK division supported the GBR Class with a regional initiative to encourage sailors to participate in competitive events over 2021.
Six events were chosen for the 2021 UK Hyde Sails Series, with events split across the existing Northern and Southern Circuits to give everyone a chance to participate. The events included:
- April 17 – Stokes Bay Open (Stokes Bay Sailing Club)
- May 22/23 – Daffodil Regatta (Ullswater Yacht Club)
- June 12/13 – One Design Regatta Weekend (Largs Sailing Club)
- July 29 – August 1 – Noble Marine UK Musto Skiff National Championships (Sunderland Yacht Club)
- September 4/5 – Asymmetric Open (Restronguet Sailing Club)
- 25/26 September – Hyde Sails Scottish and Northern Skiff National Championships (Dalgety Bay SC)
Hyde Sails provided champagne prizes for podium winners at all six events, with the overall title winner being awarded a Hyde Sails branded kite worth over £700.
Andy Tarboton was the overall winner for the 2021 UK Hyde Sails Series title, with Jono Shelley coming in as a close runner up, followed by Jamie Hilton.
With much thanks to the UK Hyde Sails team for their fantastic support of the Musto Skiff class with this sponsored series over 2021.
