Three days of racing at the France Open Skiff regatta with 44 competitors from six different countries. The first day, two races with a wind blowing from 6 to 8 knots. Great performance from MUSTO Skiff sailor, Pierre-Yves Pfirter, who came second and third on the day.
The second day, the wind was blowing from 8 to 20. We managed to do four races. The first race was the one with much heavier wind. We have seen a lot of boats capsize, and some minor breakage for some boats.
The last day was 3 races, with a raid between one of island of the lake. The conditions were perfect with a wind blowing from 8 to 14 during the day. The raid was still challenging because it was on the axle of wind (lot of gybes and tacks).
At the end, nine races were made, the regatta was won by RS 800 sailor, Luke and Emma McEwen, from Great Britain, with the same points as the second B14 sailor, Alain and François Cadre. The third was another RS800 Gilles Peeters (ex MUSTO Skiff Sailor) and Héloise Baize. The MUSTO Skiff sailors finished 7th (Pierre-Yves Pfirter SUI), 9th (Yoann Justeau FRA) and 13th (Jan Busch DEU).
MUSTO’s were at this regatta, but it was still challenging with many boats with a similar speed (8 x RS700, 10 x RS800 and 4 x B14). We hope to see more MUSTO Skiff’s next year.
Big thank you to MUSTO for the event prizes and competitor caps.
