5 visitors travelling from Yorkshire dales and Loch Lomand joined 8 local boats on Saturday the 8th of April for an action packed weekend of training. The wind and sun gods were informed that we required sun and a gradually increasing wind over the weekend.
The weekends coaching was taken by Ian Turnbull from Rope4boats and his glamorous assistant Alistair Conn. The theme for the weekend was lots of starting practice focusing on holding your lane after the start. Short compact lines were the order of the day making the 14 boat fleet feel like a replica for a worlds start line. Saturday concluded with a 1hour debrief followed by a trip to the pub.
Sunday dawned windless but right on schedule a 15-25 knot breeze kicked in. Sunday concentrated more on boat handling, sailing around a short course which was both tiring and exhilarating. After 2 hours on the water a much depleted fleet returned to shore for a 2 hour debrief and video analysis of peoples tacks and gybes.
The weekend was a huge success many thanks to Ian Turnbull, Rope4boats, Alastair Conn and the sponsors of the musto class for supporting the event.
