August
Report : Alistair Kerr
Fifteen skiffs turned
up at Stonehaven for round 4 of the 2012 Scottish Skiff
circuit over the weekend of the 11th and 12th August.
The event was part of the ASYC Open Regatta.
There was a good range of skiffs from three foiling
International Moths through to an RS100. The Musto Skiff
was well represented with nine skiffs sailing.
The weather for the weekend was light
winds with the Musto’s marginally wiring and the Foiling
Moths only managing to get up on the foils for part
of the racing.
Six races were completed over the weekend.
The first race was won by the RS100 of John Olsen from
ASYC with Alastair Conn in a Musto in second place.
Races 2 and 3, which were sailed in slightly fresher
winds were won by Alastair Conn.
Sunday produced lighter conditions, with
races 4 and 6 going to Alastair Conn, and race 5 won
by the 29er of Rory Rose and Callum Symmons.
The final results were:
(1st) Alastair Conn – Derwent Reservoir
(2nd) Jono Shelley – Aberdeen & Stonehaven YC
(3rd) John Evans – Derwent Reservoir
