Coaching Tips
from the Palma de Mallorca 2010 Training
Class sec Paul Manning has put together
a range of vidoes which have excellent coaching tips
in both the soundtrack (somtimes he's competing with
the outbaord & the wind) and he's added tips in
the notes on each video.
5 knots upwind - although Russ is one
of the heavier sailors in the class, he is keeping the
transom clear in light wind by using the trapeze to
take most of his weight and transfer this straight down
the mast which is more forward than he can stand. If
wind drops and you think you are going to fall in to
windward, take a big step back in the boat. The transom
will sit down on the water and save you. It's slow,
but better than capsizing!
Upwind 12knots - Mitja in similar conditions
to Russ. By adjusting the traveller length and kicker
tension, Mitja gets the same upwind performance as both
Russ and Pablo
